Today I saw X-Men 2 and was pleasantly surprised. It's at least as
good as the first, and in an age of craptacular sequels, this is quite
unexpected. Decent actors for pretty much every part. Nothing too over
the top. The script was tight and I didn't once stop and ask myself, "Why
are they doing this?" This is especially unusual in a comic-based movie,
where characters often act with inexplicable irrationality. Also
surprising were the numerous "cameos" of famous Marvel heroes that go
unnamed in the movie. No names, no explanations. It was wonderful!
Siryn, Colossus, Jubilee... even Gambit's real name showed up on a roster
of mutants. Just a bit of a treat for those of us in the know... those of
us who know what's coming up next.
