Playing Team Games

There's nothing worse than joining a Starsiege: Tribes game (or any team game) in progress and, within a matter of minutes, having the best score on my team. Why? I'm not that good. What it means is that I've joined a team of very poor players and more often than not, they are being completely slaughtered by the other team.

I'd rather barely lose in an evenly-matched game than be on a team that completely annihilates the opposing force without even trying. That's what makes the game (and any game) fun: challenge. So why do so many people revel in matches where one team has a high kills of 60 and the other team has 6? Because they are losers. You know it and I know it. I can only imagine that, having found something they are good at, they use it to counteract the failures in the rest of their lives. With a vengeance.

If it's not some kind of tournament, you can change teams. If the teams aren't even, most people do that. But if the teams aren't evenly matched, that should also be your response. Otherwise it's kind of like stomping on ants. What chance do they have? Where's the fun?
