yes it did change background, but i still saw the original weapons from quake2... the sounds are there, but
the walls are checkerboard the one map i do have is the cabin...cool map id like to make a map, but the

Reinstall Gunslinger 1.0
Reinstall the 1.2 Patch

If that doesn't fix the problems, try reinstalling the map too. After that, I can't help you. If it keeps pissing you off, don't play. No one's putting a gun to your head.
