Screenshots galore!  Monday, April 23, 2001 10:33 PM
Holy cow! I just posted 38 new screenshots of in-game Night's Edge action for your viewing pleasure. These don't really give away all the game's secrets :) but they do give you a sneak peek into the frantic action of this game. We just released another internal alpha test to the development team, and it looks like the code may be in a near ready state. There are just a couple of weapons left to model and animate and then we're set. I had initially thought about releasing the beta before those weapons were done, but now we're so close.... Plus the final touches are going into the Night's Edge maps. So... I'll keep everyone updated on our progress. I think I'm as anxious to release the beta as a lot of players are to download it.
Modellers wanted (still)  Friday, April 6, 2001 7:30 PM
Night's Edge, a futuristic team-based mod for Unreal Tournament, is looking for skilled weapon modellers. Anyone interested should have at least basic experience with modelling, skinning, and animating in 3D Studio MAX R3, as well as working with textures in a graphics program (such as Photoshop). Weapon models needed will include contemporary firearms as well as futuristic designs. Contact Quintin Stone for more information or to join the team.
    Internal Alpha3 released  Thursday, April 5, 2001 11:59 PM
For those of you waiting breathlessly for the release of Night's Edge, we're one step closer to that with the internal release of our 3rd alpha test version. Though some (9) minor issues need to be resolved that I know of, game play has been smooth, flawless, and very fast-paced so far. Hopefully this next round of testing won't turn up too many mistakes I made. ;)
    outLAN  Tuesday, March 27, 2001 1:56 PM
Night's Edge went over well at this past weekend's outLAN, and sure filled up my to-do list for the foreseeable future! Though no major bugs were found, the playtesting did help find some minor kinks in the code that need to be ironed out. Game play was fast and furious and everyone seemed to enjoy the selection of weapons available. The pricing structure still needs to be tweaked, and though I was able to get the laser rifle into the alpha in time for outLAN, the full functionality of the zoom feature wasn't completed. So those of you who tried the laser rifle and found it oddly inaccurate, don't worry, it won't stay like that for long. I've got about 25 items in my to-do list right now, and hopefully when those are done we'll be ready to release to the public.
Revised news  Friday, March 23, 2001 10:30 AM
I've revised the news entry below to reflect the current state of the build. The CP-1 pistol won't be in the alpha because of an unknown problem with the mesh actually crashing ucc -make. Very strange, never seen anything like it. Anyway, there's nothing major left to do, though I wish I had a bit more time to tweak and add some minor enhancements before outLAN this weekend. Ah well. Hopefully everything will go flawlessly.
