A couple of requests | Tuesday, July 10, 2001 9:52 PM |
|
Two requests of all you players out there:
1) Any Mac players, contact me with the steps you've taken to get Night's Edge to run on your machine. And if you have any suggestions or ideas for an installation program, I'd love to hear them. I have Windows and Linux machines, but I'm gonna need some help getting the mod to work its best on Macintoshes. 2) I'm looking for player input on equipment pickups for future versions. I've started a thread in the Wetworks forums called "Ideas for picking up equipment", so please read it and give me your input. |

Many thanks to the folks at UTO and Unreal Tournament Station for providing more mirrors to the recent update. You guys do good work.
Update: Huge thanks to the guys at Nacamar/World Online and K-Files for putting up mirrors. I guess we're just huge in Germany. :) |

Beta 2 released | Monday, June 25, 2001 10:51 PM |
|
Beta 2 is now available. You can either download a zip file which contains the changed files (about 7MB) or as a full install (10.7 MB, if you haven't downloaded NE before). It is, of course, in the downloads section.
The Edge team is still interested in recruiting experienced developers to help in the effort. In particular, we're looking for mappers and modelers. If you're feeling up to it, drop me a line at my usual address. |

Upcoming patch | Saturday, June 23, 2001 9:29 PM |
| Okay, it's going to be a bit more involved to split the NightsEdge.u file into pieces than I thought. It will be possible, but I have reasons to get this patch out quickly. So expect to see the 0.9.2 patch out within the next couple of days. |

New review up | Saturday, June 23, 2001 8:25 PM |
|
There's a new review of Night's Edge available at UTO that is very flattering. Thanks to Synergy for the kind words.
In other news, I have fixed the four major issues that have been reported to date: spawn problems in practice games, tournament mode interfering with the timer, players on a Mac can't sell stuff, and the stims bind key doesn't work. Only problem is that as a "monolithic" build, Night's Edge is currently contained in one big .U file. This means that any time I change even one piece of code, it's a 10 MB download all over again. So I'm going to break it apart into smaller pieces which should prevent this in the future. The 0.9.2 download will again be around 10 MB, but subsequent patches should be a lot smaller. It may take me a little while to finish the breakdown though. |
