| Just wanted to report that the new 2.0 version of StuffSwapper now has support for the weapons in Night's Edge Arena. So you can apparently now mix and match them with weapons from other UT mods. Enjoy! |

I'm in the process of completely overhauling the weapon code. I mean, nearly a complete rewrite. Almost nothing of the original UT code will be inherited once I'm done. There are a couple of major features that this revision will provide.
First, it will introduce the new system of multiple firing modes. Weapons won't be limited to just 2 attacks, we'll actually be able to have pretty much as many different attacks as we want. Weapons will have default primary and secondary attacks, and special keys will let the players cycle their fire and altfire buttons through all the available attacks. For example, an assault rifle might have the options of semiauto fire, 3-round burst, and full automatic. You could choose any of of those three to be your primary attack, and any one to be your secondary attack. The other thing the code rewrite gives is the ability to use two different ammo types in the same gun. For example, an assault rifle with an attached grenade launcher. This is just one of the many new features that will be included in the 1.0 release. |

Yet another patch! Beta 5 is out. | Thursday, August 2, 2001 11:04 PM |
|
I wasn't expecting to release another patch for the Beta, but here it is. Only 219 KB, so it's not a major download. It fixes a number of things related to the new Night's Edge Arena mutator, and removes some of the extraneous debug messages I left in (whoops!). So head on over to the downloads section and fetch that file.
In other news, I've replaced the "History" section with a much more general "Setting" page. This contains a great deal of expanded information about the city of Arcadia, its politics, geography, and the people that inhabit it. Take a look, I hope you'll all find it an interesting read. |
