It is the end of the century and mayhem and strife abound. The year? 1899. Outlaws, hired guns, and lawmen wage war in the American west. So strap on your sixguns and cut down your enemies in a hail of bullets.

PLEASE NOTE: Gunslinger Quake is no longer under active development by anyone that I know of. To my knowledge there are no active servers either, but there are people still playing. If you want to contact other interested parties, check out the forums.

New map from ShadowfireWednesday, Oct 20, 1999 8:30 PM
Okay, guys, here's another good map from the guy who brought you Dodge City. It's called Railroad and, not surprisingly, consists of a train moving across a landscape. You can download it from the files section. There are two versions: one for Gunslinger Quake 1.0 which has many of the necessary textures, and another archive that has all the textures in it for other mods.
Mod of the Week!Tuesday, Oct 19, 1999 08:56 AM
We made PlanetQuake's Mod of the Week! Overall it's a pretty glowing review. Only one minor correction to make: Last Man Standing can also be played with teams as long as the map has team spawn points. The game's over when only one team is left alive. Try it out on Dodge City.
Problem starting single player gameSunday, Oct 17, 1999 5:57 PM
With some help, I was able to discover the reason you can't start a single player game in the 1.0 version of Gunslinger Quake. I had renamed the basic server configration file, "game.cfg", to what I felt was a more descriptive name, "default.cfg". However, someone told me that "default.cfg" exists in the baseq2 PAK0.PAK file and is executed by default whenever you start Quake2. Because default.cfg existed in the Gunslinger directory, that file was run instead and the alias "newgame" defined in the baseq2 default.cfg (along with others) was never entered into the game.

The solution? Rename default.cfg to something else, like server.cfg. You will have no problems starting a single player game from the menu anymore.
Version 1.0 is now out!Sunday, Oct 10, 1999 6:00 PM
Yes, that's right. The long-awaited version 1.0 is now available for you to download into your own home! Or maybe you don't need two all new playmodes? Perhaps you don't want to take advantage of such new options as bullet holes, BotCrusher bot detection, artifact timeout, and control over each specific artifact? What? Don't you want breakable entities and all new light sources? Hearing dozens of new sounds doesn't appeal to you? You don't care that the Sharps rifle is dead-on accurate now? Or that there is a visible and realistic recoil effect? It doesn't bother you in the least that you'll be missing out on more effective item weight effects? Fine! But don't come crying to me when my minions track you down, kick in your door, and bitchslap you like the ebola-ridden money you are. Pfft.

Or, you could avoid all that unnecessary (and distateful) violence by downloading Gunslinger Quake version 1.0 RIGHT NOW. Go to the Files section or get it by clicking here for the Windows version and here for the Linux version.

Then you can go download Frag& Flag to help you set up your server. Yes, Frag & Flag now supports version 1.0 of Gunslinger Quake. Makes setting up a server a whole lot easier. So go and pick it up for all of your GQ server needs.

P.S. I've posted 25 new screenshots. Check them out in the Files section.
Test server now up!Wednesday, Oct 06, 1999 6:23 PM
The test server is now up at 216.77.242.188. We'll try a little 4-on-4 "The Big Heist" action first. The game is running on an early version of a Gunslinger map, so don't be surprised if you find some problems with both the code and the level. Send all bug reports to stone@rps.net. Hope to see you there!!
