The problem<br \/>\nwasn&#8217;t that the background was a bad idea, it was the fact that they<br \/>\nflubbed the removal procedure.  Users (ones who don&#8217;t use iGoogle that is)<br \/>\ngot a default background and they could change it, but &#8220;removing&#8221; the<br \/>\nbackground reset it back to the default image &#8212; not the normal white.<br \/>\nAnd of course most of the images made the white text nearly impossible to<br \/>\nread.
