A couple of questions: I know you can't see any weapons, but can you shoot? Do the inventory icons on the HUD look like regular Quake2 icons?

There is no "new play mode option". The playmode, and other options, are set in the CFG files included with the mod, specifically the "default.cfg" file (which you should rename to "server.cfg").
