Project Description: Mitsubishi will supply five M16C mini development
systems for up to five senior projects.
This consists of a small debugger/programmer board that interfaces to a
PC via USB and a miniature M16C target board that
can be used to build small battery powered applications. The M16C has
built in flash memory to be used as program storage
as well as to store non-volatile data. This makes the MCU board good for
small battery powered sensing applications.
Mitsubishi will supply some more detailed examples, but here are a few
rough ideas on projects:
- Interface accelerometer and altimeter to the board and launch it in
an
Estes rocket. Record acceleration, velocity, altitude,
etc. during the flight.
- Interface rotation and tilt sensors to a skateboard, rollerblades,
etc.
to measure speed, distance, direction, etc.
Mitsubishi plans to conduct this project as a contest and will select a
winner based on the best design focusing on the most
unique application and sensors utilized. The designs should definitely
make use of the Flash memory for storage of sensor
data as well as the low power features of the MCU and battery powered
capability of the board.
