Geiger counter
A geiger counter is able to measure the amount of background radiation in its immediate vicinity. This includes alpha, beta, and gamma rays. In addition to its digital readout of measured Roetgens, there are three colored LEDs, one of which illuminates whenever a reading is being taken: Green indicates that the level of radiation is safe to unprotected humans; Yellow means that while there is no immediate threat, prolonged exposure (more than 1 hour) will cause cell damage; Red warns that the radiation level is dangerously high and any exposure will result in radiation poisoning.
