[4.6] Hit Location

Hit Location is an optional rule for advanced gaming. While it might lengthen the duration of a game, it does add a dimension of realism to the experience. Called shots are made at the penalty listed under the "To Hit" column. Attacks that are made without targeting a specific body part are rolled on the hit location table with a d100. In addition, some random trauma locations, such as broken bones from falls or explosions, would be rolled on the hit location table.

There are two tables, one for front and back attacks, the second for assaults that are made against a person's profile. Critical locations on the table will apply additional effects. For example, head hits are more likely to cause stun or unconsciousness. Trauma to the throat can cause dangerous amounts of bleeding. Some of the effects are penalties applied to all actions performed with that particular body part. These penalties are generally based upon the amount of damage inflicted. If the penalty description is "damage/3", then all rolls made that are based on that limb will have a penalty equal to the damage divided by three (rounded down). Every game hour, one point of the penalty is deducted as the injury is healed.

Optional Rule: Damage Threshold
The Damage Threshold is the most amount of damage that body part can sustain from a single attack. If the damage from a single attack exceeds this number, that part of the body is destroyed, severed, or otherwise rendered permanently useless. When this happens to the head, neck, or torso, the player is killed. Note that this applies only to each single attack, not the total amount of damage suffered during an Action. If a character fires four shots from a pistol in a single Action, the damage from each of the four shots is compared individually to the Threshold for wherever they hit, even if all four were to hit the exact same location.
